True Crime Books

Robert Pickton Cover

Robert Pickton aka The Pig Farmer Killer, inherited a pig farm worth several million dollars and used his wealth (and access to drugs) to lure skid-row hookers to his farm where he confessed to murdering 49 female victims. He dismembered them and fed their body parts to his pigs…which he later slaughtered and sold to Vancouver area restaurants.

This is the first book in a twenty-four volume series collection, edited by crime historian Dr. Peter Vronsky and true crime author and publisher RJ Parker. Each month they will publish a book of Canada’s most notorious criminals, written by various authors, and published under VP Publications, an imprint of RJ Parker Publishing, Inc.

A gruesome tale, but worth reading to gather insight into one of the nation’s most disturbed people known to date.

Killer Handyman

A harmless-looking man moved to Montreal looking for a new start and to get off drugs. Somewhere along the line, his urge to prey on unsuspecting women, something he’d done and kept a secret for twenty years, became too much to keep inside. William Fyfe, aka “The Killer Handyman,” snapped, leaving at least nine women brutally beaten, murdered and sexual abused (post-mortem).

If not for the diligent work of a criminal forensic specialist and her discovery of a single fingerprint, Fyfe may have continued to kill at will, keeping Montreal residents, particularly single middle-aged women, frightened and sequestered in their own homes.

**This book contains photos and graphic statements that some may find very disturbing.

Given up for adoption by his mother at only a few weeks old, Robert Black is placed with physically abusive foster parents setting the tone for who, and what, he’d become – a pedophile and serial killer. Starting at the age of five, he recalls being sexually curious and began placing items in his anus at the age of eight. He’d sexually assault hundreds of little girls before committing his first murder. Sadly, as law enforcement stumbled along with no leads or evidence, Robert Black would strike repeatedly destroying families and preying on innocent little girls in the United Kingdom.

Peter Manuel killed repeatedly, both random and targeted victims, including men, women, and children, because he enjoyed the rush. As a life-long criminal, Manuel mainly committed property crime. That all changed when his heart was broken. The woman he’d been engaged to called off the wedding and left him, causing Peter to snap. His violence escalated then, and Peter terrorized various communities for almost two years. His cockiness had no end, and he went as far as giving a police inspector a ride while the inspector was searching for one of the teenage girls Peter had murdered. Peter toyed with the detective and advised him he thought the police were looking in the wrong spot for the girl. Ultimately, Peter’s arrogance and insatiable need for attention led to his demise…one that made him meet his own executioner as he hung from a noose on prison gallows.

Read “Monster” and I really loved it. Kürten has been one of the most fascinating serial killers I have ever studied. I appreciate your dedication and factual info in the book. Thank you Mr. Swinney. If I am ever in San Francisco, I’ll give you a shout.

Please tell me what you think :-)
